Review: “Contemporary Italian Cuisine” Located in a busy Restaurant street in trendy Braddon, Canberra. The place was packed (Friday night). Luckily we had reservations. The place looks very contemporary, modern but still very casual. Table tops are very moderate – paper covering the table. The Menu looks interesting (printed onto the placemat). Very difficult to read as firstly the menu is printed in very small letters, no contrast and secondly the restaurant is extremely dark. You cannot see the plate in front of you….far too dark. At least have some lights (spot lights) pointing onto the food / plate! The entrees were OK. The Duck liver mousse or parfait was too greasy (too much butter) and tasted bitter and not well seasoned. The Italian sausage on lentils with black truffle puree was better in taste, texture and flavour. Although the truffle puree did not hold sufficient truffle aroma. The mains (Pasta and Pizza – wood fired) were very good. Especially the pasta (Goats Cheese Tortellini) was outstanding. Overall a good meal! Service was OK.
Remarks / Special: PS: Reservation is essential!
