Review: “Lunch at Shaw Vineyard, Murrumbaten Valley”
Located 40 km north of Canberra in the Murrumbaten Wine region. Flint is part of the Shaw Winery and Vineyards. The place looks very modern and casual. The Menu is very interesting and modern (European using local products). The entrees were very good. Especially the wood oven baked Camembert cheese was exceptional.
Also the Goats cheese Soufflé was good – not enough aroma of the white truffle as indicated on the menu. The Mains were OK. The pork loin was slightly overcooked, the duck leg confit was bland (no salt). The Pizza (topping was good) dough was below standard. The dough was too short – crumbling. A shame as Flint Restaurant has a wood fired Pizza oven. Recommend that the Chef gets proper Pizza flour and / or ensures that the dough is prepared properly (kneading, resting etc…) at least 24 hours!
Desserts were very good, Panna cotta, Sticky Date cheese cake.
Service was good and friendly. Wines on offer reflecting Shaw’s Vineyard and Winemaking. The Restaurant was full (Sunday Lunch). In general a good meal but slightly over prized!
Remarks / Special: PS: Great venue for Events, Weddings etc…
Enjoy and Bon Appetite
