Blog | Travel & Food – Clonakilla Vineyard @Marrumbaten Valley, NSW, JULY 2015
When in the Murrumbaten Valley (approximately 40 km north of Canberra), a must visit is the Clonakilla Vineyard (click HERE for website).
John Kirk the Winemaker extraordinaire has created impressive “Shiraz” Wines which easily can compete with the great and famous Penfolds Grange from the Barossa Valley. His 2013 Shiraz Viognier and 2013 Syrah have made it into the top best 100 Wines of Australia. His Shiraz has a more defined and “European” flavour and style compared to the usual Australian Shiraz from the Hunter or / and Barossa Valley. This year’s harvest from March / April 2015 promises to be one of the best years on record. We can look forward to some great Shiraz Wines, Vintage 2015 from Tim Kirk at Clonakilla Vineyards.
PS: their Whites like Chardonnay, Viognier are as well very good. Other Reds like Pinot Noir, Hilltop Shiraz, etc… as well available.
Thank you for having us and letting us taste your fantastic Wines. Surely we will come back again!
